Chennai lad Rajini in 2nd place in championship
Bike racing in Asia is now beginning to see more and more Indian riders in the fray and making their mark felt internationally. And with new teams like Team Red Rooster entering the field, it is boom time in terms of encouragement and financial support for promising young bike riders in the country
This year’s Malaysian Super Series has seen Chennai racer K.Rajini of Team Red Rooster Racing doing exceedingly well. Placed third in the championship in the Super Series 600 cc class, Rajini came up with consistent performances in the races last Saturday at Malaysia to move up to second place overall in the championship. With one more round – two races – to go, a couple of consistent efforts will see Rajini sealing the second place in the championship.
Rajini had a bit of time with sliding the rear end but Andrew Morrice and his technical team soon sorted it out. Rajini qualified 5th in the expert class, behind four professional Petronas riders. Rajini started from 5th place but rocketed himself to 3rd position clocking a scorching lap of 1:09:54. Eventually he had to settle for 5th position as the Petronas riders upped their game too. Rajini’s second race was replica of race one. He rode his heart out, giving all he had but managed a 5th position.

Rajini, now placed a good 3rd overall amongst the experts.
In the novice category of the Super Sports Open class, riding a Yamaha R6 and in the overall championship lead is Rajini’s team mate and another promising rider from Bangalore Rohit Giri. Currently the leader in the overall championship ,Rohit’s wins last weekend has helped him enhance further his lead in the championship table currently. A good performance in the final round will give him the coveted championship title.
Dinesh Reddy, Managing Director of Team Red Rooster Racing expressing happiness over the result also said that the team management has identified areas of improvement. Both riders and the team are very eager to up the game for the last round of MSS, which will be the supporting race to the Moto GP on October 19th.
