Dilip Rogger finishes 11th overall in Asian GP 2007

India’s top international bike racer Dilip Rogger came up with an impressive performance in the final round of the Asian GP which was held in China last weekend. Racing on a Honda CBR 600 cc motorcycle, the Chennai lad qualified in 13th place out of a grid of 28 riders.

 

Race 1 saw Dilip moving up to the 9th place before falling back due to a technical problem with the brakes. But a determined Dilip stuck on bravely to finish in 12th place.

 

In Race 2 it was a superb effort by the Chennai youngster as he came up with a splendid drive to finish in a very significant 8th place. It was for the first time ever that an Indian rider and a privateer without any factory team support as well ,has finished in 8th position in the world recognized FIM Asian GP.

At the end of the Asian GP season 2007 Dilip Rogger was honored with an award for Best Privateer Maintenance Team for year 2007 FIM Asian GP championship. Dilip is now the 1st privateer and only Indian standing in 11th position for the year 2007 FIM Asian GP championship. He has also been selected as one of Asia’s top 10 riders by the FIM Asian GP Fans Club.

 

Earlier in the season Dilip had participated in only 2 rounds of the 6 round Malaysian Super Series to gain racing practice for the Asian GP. Due to his participation in Indian races and FIM Asian GP, Dilip was unable to participate in all the rounds of the Malaysian Super Series. Despite having participated in 2 rounds only, Dilip has finished in 5th overall position.
