The Petronas Asian Road Racing Championship is one of Asia’s most prestigious racing events for bikes. Consisting of 6 rounds, this road racing championship is being held under the auspices of The Asian Motorcycle Union (UAM). The promoters of this championship are Two Wheels Motor Racing (TWMR), Malaysia.
The Madras Motor Sports Club of India (MMSC) under the aegis of the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI) is delighted to announce that the 4th round of this premium event will be held for the first time in India at the Madras Motor Race Track near Chennai from 3-6th Sept. 2009. The event has been brought to India under the banner SIDVIN Festival of Speed.

The first category of championship will feature 600cc stock sport super bikes with riders from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan and of course India. It will be an action packed highly competitive field showcasing some of Asia's best riders with a full grid of 26 bikes.
The second category is the Underbone 115 cc. With various manufacturers this is becoming a very competitive and interesting class. Two races each per class with race distance of approx 18 laps.
The first three rounds were held in Malaysia, Japan and Indonesia in April, May and June this year. The final two rounds will be held at the Zuhai Circuit in China in October and December.
In the 600c Super bikes Category its been an action packed championship with Chalermol of Thailand with 120 points ahead of his compatriot Decha on 118 points and Zamri of Malaysia on 80 points.
Five Indians in the fray, K. Rajini, Preetham Dev Moses and Sameer Venugopalan (Red Rooster Racing Team), Emmanuel Jebaraj (Ten Ten Racing) and Dilip Rogger as a independent entry. Apart from Samir who is yet to go international, the others have been performing well in the international racing arena. Rajani and Preetham who are racing in the Petronas races this year have come to grips in the opening rounds. All eyes will be on the Indian riders, who will be racing on their home turf with some of the best racers from the continent.
In the underbone 115 cc class it is Fitriansyah of Indonesia with 62 points is just ahead of Hadiwijaya with 61 points and Affendi of Malaysia on 54 points. Team TVS has confirmed its entry on its bike Neo (made in Indonesia) for its three Indian Riders, T.K.Vishwanath, Harry Sylvester and P.Karthik.
Round 3 of the Honda MRF UAM Asia Cup of Road Racing 2009 which is also part of the SIDVIN Festival of Speed will also be held on 6th September. Two riders each from eleven countries including India will ride identical Honda Stunner 125cc bikes. This category will have two races.
Honda Motor Scooters India are supplying the all new Honda Stunner Motor Cycles free to all the participants of the Race of Nations and the Tyre giant MRF will be supplying racing tyres for these motor cycles.
As part of the continuous effort regarding enhancement of Road Racing in Asia, UAM is pleased to announce that with the concept of rider’s representing their countries and one make of motorbike, this Asia Cup of Road Racing (ACRR) has successfully built a good quality of friendship and support among the participants from all nations who are involved in this event.
The 4 round championship in this category has the concept that the UAM member countries send their riders and team manager at their expense to the host country and they are hosted from arrival up to departure by the hosts and provided identical bikes to race on. Hence some very close racing can be expected with each rider giving his best for his country flag and glory. The final round in this class will be held in November in Indonesia.

Every Grandstand will have food courts to add to the fun and thrill filled exciting day for the family. More than 5000 + spectators are expected for these races.
