Preetham, Harry and Karthick shine on a rainy day; new generation riders impress.

On an action packed windy and rainy day, the first round of Rolon National Racing Championship for bikes got underway on a wet track at the Kari Motor Speedway yesterday. Despite chilly conditions and a late afternoon start, the sizable crowd of racing enthusiasts had much to cheer as the racers in various categories blazed away to make a mark on the national racing scene. However the delay led to a very late evening finish apart from forcing postponement of five races to the next round in July.

The Group A races had every one enthralled and glued to their seats as the racers displayed tremendous driving skills at very high speeds. With international racers Preetham Dev Moses, Dilip Rogger and K. Rajini displaying tremendous driving skills and high speed action on the wet tracks, the viewers went into raptures as the big machines blazed away.

Group B 4 stroke 130 - 165 cc .

P. Karthick of Team TVS Racing got off to a good start in Race to coast away to record a comfortable win. Finishing in 2nd place was veteran racer Sriskandarajah from Team TSI Racing while another veteran and Karthick’s team mate T.K. Vishwanath settled for third place

Group A 4 stroke up to 750 cc –

Race 1 saw the dominance of Team Red Rooster Racing as the duo of Preetham Dev Moses and K. Rajini captured the first and second places after a closely fought duel. Another international racer Dilip Rogger – who recently became the first Indian and Asian rider to race in the German National Championship - drove as a privateer and finished third. Race 2 saw K.Rajini taking the chequered flag. Rajini’s team mates Rohit Giri and Preetham Dev Moses came in second and third.

Open class

Group D 4 stroke 130 cc to 160 cc - 

it was a great outing for the three youngsters from Hosur Harry Sylvester, P. Karthick and Sarath Kumar who finished first, second and third respectively respectively. While Harry and Karthick fought it out closely, Sarath Kumar had to settle for a distant third place.

Intermediate category

Group C 2 stroke 130 – 165 cc 

With Chennai lads dominating it was A. Sathish Kumar who took the chequered flag in Race 1. It was a close tussle for the second place between A. Vinoth Kumar and Tharun Rajan with the former finally scraping through.

Novice categpry

Group D 4 stroke up to 130 cc –

D.Dinesh Kumar of Hosur took the honors in Race 1while Satyendra Oraon of Ranchi finished second. Hosur lad K.Jagan finished third.

Group A 4 stroke up to 750 cc –

Bangalore based K.V.Balaji thundered away to complete a comprehensive win. Finishing 2nd was Ranchi based Sumit Lucas while the lass from Chennai Alisha Abdullah finished third.

Group A 4 stroke up to 1100cc –

The top two slots in Race 1 went to the Bangalore duo of Vikram and Mazhar Ahmed annexed the first and second slot while Emmanuel Jebaraj of Chennai finished third.

Group D 4 stroke Honda Single Make 125cc CBF - Stunner Class

Varad More completed a grand double winning both the races in this class. Despite a see saw battle in both races A Prabhu had to be content with second finishes in both races. R.Karthick and M. Anand finished third in Race 1 and Race 2 respectively.

Group D 4 stroke 150 cc – Honda single make race -

Shyam Shankar took the top slot in the only race in this class. Deva Kumar and A.Sathish Kumar finished second and third.

For Ashok Kumar it was double delight in the mopeds category as he recorded comfortable wins in both races. Finishing in second and third places in both races were S.V.Suresh and E. Murugan respectively.
