hercules act 110 plus

Postby girish » April 24th, 2010, 5:22 pm

Hi friends,

I have nearly finalized hercules act 110 and went to RR cycles, Madivala today. Got a good deal too I think (total of 9.8k including vat etc + a bell).
But, then he showed me a new model "act 110plus" which is nearly 1k more than 110. The main differences are, the gear (acera), hub (self lubricating) and seat. The gear is 24 geared one. Now I am back to my search again. Can you please help me. Its very urgent as I am planning to go there tomorrow 10:30 AM to pickup my bike

Girish,
I own an ACT 110 which has the basic Tourney gears. So many people on this forum vouch that 110 is a true VFM bike. Acera is two notches up, so I think it would be a better deal. If you have finalised 110, then the plus will be a plus. BTW, have you looked at the Schwinns?

Thanks Ram, I did look at shwinn. Due to some constraints, I want to keep the price strictly under 10k, but if its worth
can make an exception for the PLUS . .

Plus comes with quick relese on both the wheels in comparison with 110, does it really help ? Another diff I forgot to mention
is the handle bar. Its not the straight one, but contoured one. May be useful in changing the angle, but not too sure either

Yes hercules seems to be good deal, go for it.

Girish,
Does 110 plus have quick release at the rear wheel? That's a nice add-on, methinks. Have you, by any chance, taken a picture of plus? TI Cycles' website doesn't have one.

Oh! BTW, I forgot to ask one important question. You say the rear dérailleur is Acera, now. What about the chainring? Has it got the 48-tooth big ring?

sorry Ram, no pix. Other than the handle bar, quick relese and white colored acera at the back, it looks exactly the same as 110. So, did not take pix

Now I am thinking additional 1k might be a good investment and also, having a plus on the body looks good right :)

Yup.. 110 Plus sounds like a sweet deal. The quick release is definitely a huge plus when you want to change tubes quickly when on rides.

Go for it Girish.. have fun riding..

Hi,

finally bought my act 110 with extra PLUS :)
Immediately after buying it, the heavens opened up and could not ride any more. But, what ever the small ride I took around RR, Madivala convinced me about my purchase.
Posting some pix of the bike (focussing on the new features), sorry for the bad quality as it was little dark by the time I reached home.

Girish,
The bike looks nice. Can you show me the chainring and a closeup of the handlebar? Is the stem a bit longer than 110's?

Congrats Girish!
I guess 1000 'plus' is worth it for the quick release rear wheel...I prefer the straight handlebars though.
Noticed that your seatpost has been installed backwards! I got my ACT110 from RR Madivala, and mine was also set up backwards! Worse, even the TI cycles website photo of the ACT110 has the seatpost set up backwards! ha ha!
I suggest you get this fixed ASAP. I did not notice my seatpost set up initially. After a couple of days of riding, I was setting up my saddle height and levelling it, when I noticed that I could not get the saddle to be horizontal. The serrations on the clamp that holds the saddle rails were already at their limits (like yours is now) and the saddle still had its nose up! Then it struck me that the seat post was the culprit!
Happy riding!

btw, the quick release is not exactly a great idea if you intend to leave your bike out unsupervised in public areas.

stalker,
though what ever you say is true, it is really tough to take the back wheel, as he has to remove the chain, gears and lots of other stuff. Hope he realizes it :)

thanks madman

thanks rubin,
due to the quick relese, d dealer said its difficult to fit the guard, any suggestions ??

thanks ryder, will check out the stem, hope you are right

Hi Ram,
hope this is the pic you asked for

Hey Girish,

Congrats. Is this a Unisex bike or for men only? (I am looking one for my wife).

By the way, the chain is the only one you need to take off from the rear wheel and it takes one second more than the front wheel to remove or fix back. Practise makes perfect :)

Enjoy your rides and give us your post riding feedback.
Best regards

QR on back wheel as well ? Own ACT 110 and now I am jealous of you ! I am sure it will be useful while moving.

@Others - possible to fit QR on rear wheel of ACT 110?

The plus looks really good.
It certainly means that Hercules is going to keep upgrading their 110 line of cycles. Being an owner of Act 110 it clearly means I can get better components for upgrading readily from Hercules. NICE!
